Elderly People
-Life lessons that elderly people have learned, the well of wisdom and experience that they have. Things they wish they did or were glad that they did. Things that are important to them, and how those things reach others.
-Nonsensical drama within their social networks. Ways they compete in games like bingo. How they feel about where they are. Things they think are funny.

I'm not sure if you plan on writing about senior citizens who live in retirement homes or just senior citizens in general. If you are interviewing those who live in retirement homes you could start with why they chose that particular retirement home. Did they like the amenities, the food, the staff?
ReplyDeleteIf you're just writing about senior citizens in general you could start with asking what they believe the most important thing they have learned in their life.
For the seniors in the retirement homes you could ask how much of a fit they would have if "The Price Is Right" wasn't being watched at 9:00 AM every weekday. I say this since I remember going into a retirement home where the TV had a plastic sign on it stating that only "The Price Is Right" can be watched on that TV at 9:00 AM.
ReplyDeleteOne could also ask the seniors what they think of when they get random visitors compared to family visitors. Or even how they like it when a youth group goes in and sings to them.
Ask the elderly what they have learned in life. You can learn about the changes that have occured in their life and the things thay would have done differently. Ask about their favorite activities.
ReplyDeleteYou can definately ask why they think that teenage kids are the worst drivers on the planet. I happen to see to many senior citizens almost run people off the road. Also, are you talking about senior citizens that are able to support themselves or elderly people that have to have help being taken care of.
